The MIT Police maintains a daily crime log that describes incidents reported to the MIT Police. Logs contain the time, date, and location of all reported criminal incidents. Information from crime reports is analyzed to spot crime trends and allocate resources more efficiently.
MIT Alert is the Institute’s emergency notification program, designed to provide information and advisories via a number of communication channels including Institute voicemail, email and text message for the safety and security of the MIT community.
The MIT Police may also release email bulletins (Timely Warning) regarding incidents within our own community and the surrounding area. Timely Warning alerts are issued in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
The report contains crime statistics and information regarding campus security and personal safety topics such as crime prevention, fire safety, university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other information related to safety and security on campus.
